Join the Columbia Falls Police DepartmentThe City of Columbia Falls is recruiting for a new Patrol Officer. The Patrol Officer performs police patrol, investigations, traffic regulation, and related community policing activities within our city of approximately 5,500 people. The CFPD’s mission is to improve the life, safety, and health of all who live, visit, or pass through our city and is dedicated to proactive policing methods to ensure we meet these standards. The Police Department currently has twelve sworn officers including the Chief, two Sergeants, two Detectives, School Resource Officer, and six Patrolmen. Starting wage is $26.78 per hour with annual step increases, additional stipends and room for advancement per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Reports to: Kootenai River Ecosystem Restoration Program Man ager General Summary of Duties: The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Nutrient Program seeks to recover a productive, healthy and biologically diverse Kootenai River ecosystem, with emphasis on native fish species rehabilitation via a comprehensive biomonitoring program, investigation of ecosystem-level productivity, and implementing and maintaining a large-scale Kootenai River nutrient addition effort. PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist conducting fish and aquatic related research, population inventory, and habitat evaluation studies on the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Reservation and throughout the Tribe’s aboriginal territory. • Prepare written summaries of research activities. • Collect water samples - Monitor key water quality parameters, with an emphasis on macro-nutrients needed for in-river biological growth and development, and heavy metals that may be detrimental to food web health. • Prepare reports, surveys, habitat evaluations, environmental inventories and other field activities in line with the Program’s goals. • Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports of activities to comply with Bonneville Power. • Administration requirements or other tribal agreements. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS • Must support the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Tribe’s vision, mission, and core values. • Bachelor’s degree in Fish and Wildlife Management or closely related field including at least two years of demonstrable professional experience closely related to wildlife or fisheries management activities and other essential duties of this position. • Excellent knowledge and understanding of fish and aquatic habitats. • Excellent professional and technical writing skills. • Highly skilled in the application of computers and various software packages essential to performance of job duties (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, ArcView/GIS Skills preferred). • Excellent oral and written communications skills with clear ability to work effectively with a diverse group of colleagues and audiences inclusive of co-workers, government and public officials, tribal members, local businesses and industry groups, and various members of the general public. • Must be in good physical condition and able to perform strenuous field activities under inclement weather conditions and in rough terrain. • Must abide by the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Policy. • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and be Tribally insurable. FISHERIES BIOLOGIST II DFWRC FISHERIES PROGRAM (DFWRC–Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation) NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT – POLSON, MT The Fisheries Biologist II is a technical and skilled professional position, responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out field and office work related to assessing the fisheries of the Flathead Reservation and identifying factors impacting those fisheries. The successful applicant must have a Master’s of Science degree in Fisheries Biology or related field. Incumbent should have a Professional certification, or eligibility for certification, by the American Fisheries Society. Experience in program planning and management, along with ground and surface water modeling tools in relation to instream flow protection for fisheries is desired. Skill required in operation of electrofishing equipment and other standard fishery sampling and collection gear, in operation of boat motors, small gasoline engines and 4x4 vehicles. May require training and certification in the safe use of SCUBA diving equipment and techniques, electrofishing techniques, and the safe operation of a motor boat. Knowledge of ecological principles, basic statistics, population dynamics, related life sciences, chemistry and physics related to fisheries management, and the principles of fisheries biology. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with private landowners, the public and fellow workers through report writing and planning, public forums, and the news media. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. FAILURE TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION DURING THE SCREENING PROCESS.
